How a child marks a task as done
When a parent or guardian sets up a chore or responsibility in KiddyCash, it appears in your task list as something you need to complete. Once you have finished the work — whether that is washing the dishes, tidying your room, or helping out at the family shop in Nairobi — you need to claim completion so your parent can review what you did and approve your reward.
This guide walks you through exactly how to do that, step by step.
What is a task?
A task in KiddyCash is a job assigned to you by a parent or guardian. Each task has a name, a description of what needs to be done, and sometimes a reward attached — like KES 50 added to your KiddyCash wallet when the work is approved. Tasks are a great way to earn your allowance and build real money habits early. In fact, research shows that why saving habits matter most when learned young — and tasks are one of the best ways to start.
Before you can mark a task as done, a parent must have created it. If no tasks are showing up in your account, ask your parent to follow the steps in how to create a task for a child.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- Your own KiddyCash account or kiddy business account set up and ready to log into
- Completed the actual work the task describes
- Your phone or device with internet access
Steps to mark a task as done
-
Log in to your KiddyCash account. Open the KiddyCash app or visit the web app and sign in using your details.
-
Go to your Tasks section. From your dashboard, tap or click Tasks in the bottom navigation bar or the main menu. This shows you all the tasks currently assigned to you.
-
Find the task you completed. Scroll through your task list and tap the task you just finished. You will see the task name, the instructions your parent left, and the reward amount waiting for you.

-
Open the task detail page. Tapping the task takes you to its full detail screen. You can also navigate there directly if you know your account and task IDs:
https://kiddy.cash/kiddy/account/:kiddy_account_id/task/:task_idReplace:kiddy_account_idwith your account ID and:task_idwith the task ID — both are visible in your account settings and task list. -
Tap “Mark as Done”. On the task detail page, you will see a button labelled Mark as Done. Tap it once you are confident you have completed the work properly.
-
Add a note (optional but helpful). A text box will appear where you can write a short message to your parent — for example, “I swept the whole house and took out the rubbish.” This helps your parent review your work quickly, especially if they are busy and checking from their own phone via M-Pesa notifications or the KiddyCash app.
-
Submit your claim. Tap Submit. The task status changes from In Progress to Pending Review. Your parent will receive a notification to check your work.
What happens next?
Your parent reviews the task and either approves or sends it back with feedback. If approved, any reward linked to the task — say, KES 100 — is added to your KiddyCash wallet automatically.
