How to check allowance status from the kid view

Your allowance in KiddyCash shows you whether money is on its way, already arriving, on hold, or finished. This article explains what each status means and how to find it in your account.

What is an allowance status?

An allowance is a regular amount of money your parent or guardian sets up to send to your KiddyCash wallet — weekly, monthly, or on a custom schedule. The status tells you exactly where that allowance is in its life cycle at any given moment.

Understanding your allowance status is a small but real money skill. If you’re curious about the bigger picture of why managing money early matters, this piece on why schools play a bigger role in financial literacy than most parents realise is worth a read.

Allowance status definitions

StatusWhat it means
UpcomingThe allowance has been created by your parent or guardian but the first payment date has not arrived yet. No money has moved.
ActiveThe allowance is running. Payments are being sent to your wallet on schedule — for example, every Monday, or on the 1st of the month.
PausedYour parent or guardian has temporarily stopped payments. The allowance still exists but no money will arrive until it is resumed.
CompleteThe allowance has reached its end date or the total number of payments set up has been reached. No further payments will be made.

How to check your allowance status

Follow these steps inside your KiddyCash kid account or kiddy business account.

  1. Open your allowance page. Go directly to your allowance dashboard at https://kiddy.cash/kiddy/account/:kiddy_account_id/allowance. Replace :kiddy_account_id with your actual account ID — you can find this in your profile settings.

  2. Sign in if prompted. Enter your PIN or use the login method your family set up for you.

  3. Find the allowance card. Each allowance your parent has created appears as a separate card. You may have more than one — for example, a weekly pocket money allowance and a separate school lunch allowance in KES.

  4. Read the status badge. The coloured badge on the card shows the current status: Upcoming, Active, Paused, or Complete. Refer to the table above if you are unsure what your status means.

  5. Check the next payment date. If your status is Active, the card also shows when the next payment is expected to land in your wallet — helpful if you’re saving up for something and tracking when funds will arrive, whether you’re in Nairobi or anywhere else KiddyCash is available.

What to do if your status looks wrong

  • Status says Upcoming but you expected it to be Active — the start date may not have arrived yet. Check the start date shown on the card.
  • Status says Paused — speak to the parent or guardian who manages your KiddyCash family account. Only they can resume it.
  • Status says Complete but you expected more payments — ask your parent to check the allowance settings. They can set up a new allowance following the steps in how to create a weekly allowance for a child or how to create a monthly allowance for a child.
