How to compare payment cards across the family

The All Cards view gives you a single, scrollable list of every payment card linked to your family in KiddyCash — yours, your partner’s, and each child’s. Instead of opening each profile one by one, you can scan balances, statuses, and card types side by side, then decide where action is needed.

This article walks you through that view for the first time.

Before you start

Make sure you have already:

  • Set up your family in KiddyCash
  • Issued at least one card for a child (if you haven’t, follow How to issue a payment card for a child)
  • Completed KYC (identity verification) — cards will not appear until your account is verified

Step 1 — Open the All Cards view

  1. Log in to the KiddyCash app.
  2. Tap Cards in the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Select Family Cards from the top tab strip.

You can also go directly to https://kiddy.cash/families/payment-card in your browser if you are signed in.

Step 2 — Read the card list

Each row in the list represents one physical or virtual card. Here is what each column means:

ColumnWhat it shows
CardholderThe family member the card belongs to — e.g. “Amara (child)” or “You”
Card typePhysical or virtual
BalanceCurrent available balance in KES (or your set currency)
StatusActive, Frozen, Pending, or Cancelled
Last usedDate of the most recent transaction

Tip for Nairobi families: If your child’s card is linked to an M-Pesa funded wallet, the balance shown here reflects what has already been swept into KiddyCash — not the M-Pesa float.

Step 3 — Sort and filter (optional)

Use the Filter button at the top right to narrow the list:

  • By member — show cards for one specific child or adult
  • By status — surface only Frozen or Pending cards quickly
  • By card type — compare physical cards separately from virtual ones

Sorting by Last used is useful if you want to spot cards that have gone inactive.

Step 4 — Drill into a card

Tap any row to open that card’s detail screen. From there you can freeze, unfreeze, set spending limits, or view recent transactions. For a full walkthrough of what you will find inside, read How to view a child payment card.

What the statuses mean

  • Active — the card is working and can be used for purchases.
  • Frozen — the card is temporarily blocked. No purchases go through, but the balance is safe.
  • Pending — the card has been issued but not yet activated or delivered.
  • Cancelled — the card has been permanently closed.

Good to know

  • The list updates in real time. Pull down to refresh if you have just made a change.
  • Cards issued through a school or business partnership appear here too, clearly labelled.
  • Badges earned by a child do not affect card status but are visible on the child’s profile.
  • If you are new to KiddyCash and setting up your family for the first time, the onboarding guides at /blog/what-s-new-in-onboarding-in-kiddycash and /blog/a-closer-look-at-onboarding-in-kiddycash explain how cards fit into the broader setup flow.
