What you’ll see on your Smart Approval page

Smart Approval is a feature that controls which purchases or payments your account can make without needing extra permission from a parent or guardian. Think of it as a pre-approved list — some spending is already allowed, and anything outside that list may be blocked or sent for review.

This article walks you through finding your Smart Approval page and reading what’s on it.

What is Smart Approval?

When a parent or guardian sets up your KiddyCash account, they can create smart approval rules — specific conditions that say “yes, this type of spending is fine.” For example, they might allow payments up to the equivalent of 500 in your local currency at a school canteen in your city, or approve a weekly mobile money top-up for airtime. Anything that doesn’t match a rule may be paused and sent to them for approval before it goes through.

You can read more about recent changes to how approvals and verification work in KiddyCash in this blog post: A closer look at verification in KiddyCash.

How to open your Smart Approval page

  1. Log in to your KiddyCash account through the app or web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, tap or click Account.
  3. Select the KiddyCash account or kiddy business you want to check.
  4. Go directly to your Smart Approval page here: https://kiddy.cash/kiddy/account/:kiddy_account_id/smart-approval (Replace :kiddy_account_id with your actual account ID, which you can find in your account settings.)
  5. The Smart Approval page loads, showing all active rules on your account.

Reading the Smart Approval page

Each row on the page represents one rule. Here is what each column means:

ColumnWhat it tells you
Rule nameA short label for the rule, e.g. “School lunch” or “Airtime top-up”
Allowed amountThe maximum single transaction value covered, e.g. the equivalent of 200 in your local currency
Merchant / categoryWhere or what the rule applies to — a specific shop, or a category like transport
FrequencyHow often the rule applies — once, daily, weekly, or monthly
StatusWhether the rule is Active, Paused, or Expired

If a rule shows Active, that spending can go ahead automatically. If it shows Paused or Expired, you may need to ask your parent or guardian to update it.

To understand how these rules were created in the first place, see how to create a smart approval rule.

What you can and cannot change

As the account holder, you can view all rules on your Smart Approval page. You cannot add, edit, or delete rules yourself — only the parent or guardian linked to your account can do that.

If you think a rule is missing — for example, you need approval for a new subscription or a regular payment to a local vendor — ask your parent or guardian to add it. They can follow the steps in how to view smart approval rules to manage the full list on their side.

Quick checklist before your next transaction

  • ✅ Open your Smart Approval page and confirm the relevant rule is Active
  • ✅ Check the allowed amount covers what you want to spend
  • ✅ Check the frequency hasn’t been used up for this period
  • ✅ If anything looks wrong, contact your parent or guardian before attempting the payment
