How a child views their savings goal

A savings goal is a target amount of money you want to save up for — like a new football, school supplies, or a trip. Once a parent or guardian has set up a savings goal for you, you can open it any time in your KiddyCash account to check how close you are to reaching it.

This article shows you exactly how to find and read your goal detail page.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • A KiddyCash kiddy account (or kiddy business account) that is active
  • At least one savings goal already created — if none exists, ask your parent or guardian to create one for you
  • The KiddyCash app installed and your login details ready

How to open your savings goal

  1. Open the KiddyCash app and log in to your kiddy account.
  2. Tap the Savings tab on the bottom navigation bar. This is where all your goals are listed.
  3. Find the goal you want to check. Each goal shows a name (for example, “New Sneakers” or “Nairobi Trip Fund”) and a short progress bar.
  4. Tap the goal card. This opens the goal detail page.
  5. Read your progress. You will now see the full breakdown of how much you have saved and how much is still needed.

You can also go directly to your goal page using this link — replace the placeholders with your real account and goal IDs:

Tip: Your parent or guardian can share your direct goal link with you so you can bookmark it and check your progress any time.

What you will see on the goal detail page

SectionWhat it means
Goal nameThe name given to this saving target (e.g. “New Phone”)
Target amountThe total amount you are saving towards, shown in KES or your local currency
Saved so farHow much money has already been added to this goal
RemainingHow much more you still need to save
Progress barA visual bar that fills up as you get closer to your target — 100% means you have reached your goal
ContributionsA list of deposits made into this goal, including dates and amounts
Due date (if set)The date your parent or guardian set as the target deadline

Understanding your progress

Your progress percentage is calculated automatically:

(Saved so far ÷ Target amount) × 100 = % complete

For example, if your goal is KES 3,000 for a school bag and you have saved KES 1,500, your progress is 50%.

Every time money moves into your goal — from your allowance, a family contribution, or even a small business you run — the progress bar updates. If your family uses M-Pesa to top up your KiddyCash wallet, those deposits can flow into your goal too, depending on how your parent has set things up.
