Adding a Product to Your Kiddy Business

Once you’ve set up your kid-run business, the next step is stocking it with products so customers can actually find and buy what you’re selling — whether that’s handmade bracelets in Nairobi, baked mandazi, or digital artwork. Getting the product details right makes a real difference in whether people trust your listing enough to pay.

Before You Start

Make sure your kiddy business is already approved and active. Products won’t be visible to others until the business itself is live. You’ll also need a clear idea of your price in KES (or whichever currency your account uses) and at least one good photo.

Steps to Add a Product

  1. Go to your Products page. Head to https://kiddy.cash/kiddy-business/products while logged into your KiddyCash account. You’ll see a list of any existing products and a button to add a new one.

  2. Click “Add Product.” This opens the product creation form. You’ll fill in details across a few sections — don’t rush through them. Buyers in markets like Nairobi or Mombasa often decide based on the description alone, especially for delivery orders.

  3. Enter the product name and description. Be specific. Instead of “Bracelet,” write “Handmade beaded bracelet – blue and gold, adjustable size.” Your description should answer the obvious questions: What is it made of? How long does it take to make or deliver? Is it one-of-a-kind or do you have stock?

  4. Set your price. Enter the price in KES. If you’re selling something that takes real materials or time — like baked goods or crafts — make sure your price covers your costs and still leaves you with a profit. KiddyCash doesn’t set your price for you, so own that decision.

  5. Upload a product image. A clear, well-lit photo builds trust fast. Natural light works better than a flash. Take the photo against a plain background if you can. You can upload multiple images — use that option if the product has different angles worth showing.

  6. Choose a category. Picking the right category helps buyers discover your product when they browse or search. If nothing fits perfectly, choose the closest match and use your description to fill in the gaps.

  7. Set availability and stock quantity. If you have limited stock — say, only 5 packets of chin chin you baked — enter that number. This prevents overselling and builds credibility. If it’s an ongoing service or digital product, you can mark it as unlimited.

  8. Review and publish. Before you hit publish, preview how the listing looks to a buyer. Check spelling, confirm the price is correct, and make sure the image loaded properly. Then publish. Your product will now appear on your business profile and may show up in search results across KiddyCash.

Tips for Better Listings

  • Update stock regularly. A product marked “available” when it’s sold out frustrates buyers and can hurt your business reputation.
  • Use your description to handle payment questions. If you accept M-Pesa payments outside the app for local pickups, mention that clearly — but note that in-app transactions through KiddyCash wallets are tracked and count toward your business badges.
  • Earn badges faster. Completing your product listings fully (name, description, image, category, stock) contributes to your business profile strength, which unlocks badges over time.
