How to create a kid-run business

Starting a kiddy business on KiddyCash lets you sell products or services, run campaigns, and track every shilling you earn — all from your own account. Whether you are selling mandazis at school in Nairobi or handmade bracelets in your neighbourhood, a kiddy business gives you the tools to manage it properly.

Before you begin, make sure you are logged in to your KiddyCash account. You will need a verified account (this means KiddyCash has confirmed who you are — this is called KYC, short for Know Your Customer). If you have not done that yet, complete your profile verification first.

What is a kiddy business?

A kiddy business is a mini-business profile you create inside KiddyCash. It has its own name, description, and wallet. You can list products, run campaigns (special promotions or fundraising drives), and receive payments using transaction codes — unique codes customers enter to pay you directly. You can also earn badges as your business grows.

If you are curious about why learning to run a business — and even invest — matters while you are young, read why investing is a concept kids can learn younger than you think.

Steps to create your kiddy business

  1. Log in to KiddyCash. Open the app and sign in with your username and password.

  2. Go to the Kiddy Businesses section. From your dashboard, tap Businesses in the bottom navigation bar.

  3. Open the business creation page. Tap the Create a Business button, or go directly to https://kiddy.cash/kiddy-businesses/create.

  4. Enter your business name. Choose a name that describes what you sell or do. For example: Amara’s Bead Studio or Hassan’s Delivery Runs.

  5. Write a short description. Tell customers what your business offers. Keep it to two or three sentences. Example: “I make handmade friendship bracelets in Mombasa. Orders ready in 3 days. Pay with KiddyCash or M-Pesa.”

  6. Set your business category. Pick the category that best fits — for example, Crafts, Food, or Services.

  7. Add your first product or service. Enter the product name, a short description, and the price in KES (Kenyan Shillings). You can add more products later.

  8. Review your details. Read through everything you have entered. Check that your prices and description are correct.

  9. Tap Submit. Your kiddy business will be created and given its own profile page on KiddyCash.

Once your business is live, other users on the platform can discover it. You can see how it appears to others by reading how to view all kid-run businesses.

What happens next?

After you create your business, you will land on your business overview — a dashboard showing your products, earnings, and any active campaigns. Learn how to read and use that page in how to view a kid business overview.

As your business earns money, it collects in your business wallet, separate from your personal KiddyCash wallet. You can track every payment and use the money to reinvest in your business or transfer it to your personal wallet.
