How to Reset a Forgotten PIN

Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is the four-digit security code you enter inside the KiddyCash app to confirm actions — for example, approving an allowance transfer or sending funds to a child’s wallet. If you forget your PIN, you cannot complete these actions until you reset it. This guide walks you through the reset process step by step.

Before you start

Make sure you have access to:

  • The phone number or email address linked to your KiddyCash account
  • A working internet connection (mobile data or Wi-Fi)
  • Your registered email inbox, because the reset flow sends a one-time code there

If you have not yet created an account, follow our guide on how to sign up for KiddyCash first.

How to reset your PIN

  1. Open the KiddyCash app on your phone and tap Enter PIN on the lock screen. Below the number pad, you will see a link that reads Forgot PIN? — tap it.

  2. Go to the reset page. The app will open the secure reset page at https://kiddy.cash/forgot-pin. You can also open this link directly in your browser if you cannot reach the screen in step 1.

  3. Enter your registered email address. Type the email address you used when you signed up, then tap Send Reset Code. KiddyCash will send a six-digit one-time passcode (OTP) to that inbox within a few seconds. If you are in Nairobi or anywhere else across the region and use M-Pesa-linked accounts, your email is the address you provided during KYC (identity verification) onboarding.

  4. Check your email and copy the OTP. Open your email app, find the message from KiddyCash, and note the six-digit code. This code expires in ten minutes, so act quickly. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder before requesting a new code.

  5. Enter the OTP in the app. Paste or type the six digits into the verification field on the reset page, then tap Verify.

  6. Create a new PIN. You will be taken to a screen that asks you to type a new four-digit PIN, then type it again to confirm. Choose something you can remember but that others cannot easily guess — avoid sequences like 1234 or your birth year.

  7. Tap Save PIN. A confirmation message will appear. Your new PIN is now active across all your KiddyCash sessions.

  8. Log back in. Return to the app login screen. If the system asks you to re-authenticate with your email before reaching the PIN screen, follow the steps in our guide on how to log in with email and OTP.
