What is a kid business public profile?
When a child sets up a business on KiddyCash — whether they’re selling handmade bracelets in Nairobi, offering tutoring services, or running a small baked-goods stall — KiddyCash creates a public profile for that business. This profile is what other users see when they browse the Discover section of the app: a directory where kid-run businesses can be found, followed, and supported.
Think of it like a shop window. The child manages what goes inside, but anyone passing by can look in.
What the public profile shows
The public profile pulls together key details about the business in one place. Here’s what appears:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Business name | The trading name the child registered on KiddyCash |
| Category | The type of business (e.g., Crafts, Food, Services, Digital) |
| Description | A short bio written by the child or their parent/guardian |
| Location | City or region, if the family has set this (e.g., Nairobi, Lagos, Accra) |
| Badges | Earned recognition, such as “First Sale” or “Verified Business” |
| Campaign status | Any active fundraising or sales campaigns |
| Transaction code | A unique code customers can use to send payment directly to the business wallet |
Note: Sensitive information — including the child’s full name, school, wallet balance, or linked M-Pesa details — is never shown on the public profile.
How to view a kid business public profile
Option 1 — Browse through Discover
- Open the KiddyCash app and sign in to your account.
- Tap Discover in the bottom navigation bar. This opens the business directory.
- Use the search bar or scroll through listed businesses to find the one you’re looking for.
- Tap a business card. The full public profile opens.
Option 2 — Use a direct link
If someone has shared a business link with you — for example, via WhatsApp or a school notice — you can open it directly in your browser or in the app.
The link follows this format:
https://kiddy.cash/discover/business/{businessId}
Replace {businessId} with the unique ID for that business. For example, a business with the ID biz_00423 would be at:
https://kiddy.cash/discover/business/biz_00423
Tapping or visiting this URL takes you straight to that business’s public profile without needing to search.
What you can do from the public profile
- Copy the transaction code to send a payment in KES directly to the business wallet — useful if you’re buying something locally and want a quick, cashless transfer.
- View active campaigns to see if the business is running a special promotion or fundraiser.
- Check badges to understand the business’s history and credibility on the platform.
- Share the profile link with others to help promote the business.
What you cannot do from the public profile
The public profile is read-only for visitors. To make changes to a profile — such as updating the description, changing the category, or uploading a new photo — the business owner or their linked parent/guardian must follow the steps in how to update a kid business profile.
A note for parents and guardians
If you’re a parent reviewing your child’s business presence, the public profile is a good place to check what the world sees. If anything looks incomplete or needs correcting, the how to update a kid business profile guide will walk you through making edits from the family dashboard.
