How to view kid business accounts

A kid business account is a special wallet linked to a kid-run business on KiddyCash. Just like a real business keeps its money separate from personal savings, your KiddyCash business has its own accounts that track income, expenses, and balances — separate from your personal wallet.

This article shows you how to find and read those accounts inside the app.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • A KiddyCash account (your personal kid account)
  • At least one kid-run business already set up on your profile
  • Access to the KiddyCash app or web platform

If you have not created a business yet, follow the steps in How to create a kid-run business first.

What is a business account?

A business account is a record of money moving in and out of your kid business. Think of it like a passbook at a bank, but for your small business — whether you are selling mandazis in Nairobi, doing homework help for neighbours, or saving up KES from weekend chores turned into a service.

Each business can have one or more accounts. For example:

Account typeWhat it tracks
Revenue accountMoney earned from sales or services
Expense accountMoney spent to run the business
Savings accountMoney set aside for future business goals
Investment accountFunds allocated for growing the business

Understanding these early builds real money skills. If you are curious about why this matters, read why investing is a concept kids can learn younger than you think.

Steps to view your business accounts

  1. Log in to your KiddyCash account using your PIN or password.

  2. Go to the Businesses section. Tap or click “My Businesses” from your dashboard. You will see a list of all kid-run businesses linked to your profile. You can also view all kid-run businesses to explore businesses beyond your own.

  3. Select your business. Tap the name of the business whose accounts you want to view.

  4. Open the Accounts tab. Inside the business profile, tap “Accounts”. This shows all accounts attached to that business.

  5. View account details. Tap any account to see:

    • Current balance
    • Recent transactions
    • Account type
    • Date created
  6. Direct link. If you know your business ID, you can go straight to your accounts page here: https://kiddy.cash/kiddy-business/:business_id/account Replace :business_id with your actual business ID, which you can find on your business profile page.

Reading your account balance

Your balance shows the total amount currently held in that account. If your revenue account shows KES 1,200, it means your business has earned and kept that amount. If your expense account has activity, it shows what has been spent — for example, buying supplies or paying a small fee.

Transactions marked with a transaction code help you trace exactly where money came from or went — useful if a payment came in via M-Pesa or another method.

Tips for managing your business accounts

  • Check your accounts at least once a week to stay on top of your business health.
  • Keep your revenue higher than your expenses — that means your business is making a profit.
  • Use the savings account to set a goal, like reinvesting in your business.
